About the Director
Company Owner and Director Chris Griffin is an interesting fellow. He
loves to create, explore and strategize. Angry Bear Film Productions was
created as a means for Chris to “feed the beast”.
Chris (now 27) first discovered his love for film-making at the age of
20. His Dad's new “Sony Digital 8” camcorder, a friend's birthday
party and too much time to spare lead to unexpected inspiration. A cheesy
“Lord of the Rings” parody as a birthday present. Chris gathered
his friends together, pulled together costumes and got to work. The parody
wasn't very good but it got the creative juices flowing.
The next big strike of inspiration came from an open improv comedy workshop
held by “Theatre on the Edge” in Waterloo, Ontario. Chris
attended out of curiousity, and as always curiousity brought with it wonders.
The moment Chris stepped into his first scene he fell in love. Collaborative
story-telling, what a beautiful thing. Three months of attending workshops
lead Chris to performing mainstage. Two wonderful years of random comedy
and Chris was off on new adventures.
He moved around a bit. Oakville Ontario, St. John's Newfoundland and finally
Vancouver, British Columbia. Upon landing in BC four years back Chris
has: written countless short screenplays, wrote two feature screenplays,
produced five short films, wrote/directed four shorts and served as Director
of Photography on various short films. He is also a full member of IATSE
local 891 as a Lamp Operator and occasionally works on Rock Concerts as
a Stage Hand. He has dabbled in digital photography as well.
The production of feature films is the next step in his journey. Is he
nervous? Damn straight he is, but he is determined. Chris was born to
entertain and that is exactly what he intends to do.
